- Notes:- Chamaedorea elegans, or parlour palm, is a species of small palm tree native to the rainforests in Southern Mexico and Guatemala. As an indoor plant they are very slow growing but can eventually reach 2m in height. In their native rainforest, heights of 3 to 4m can be achieved. We also use Chamaedorea metallica, this is also slow growing and not a tall plant but for low light, cooler temperatures and if you like large fishtail leaves, you cannot go wrong...
